Frequent Fine-Art and Boudoir Q&A
I get asked these questions quite often when it comes to boudoir sessions—so here’s how I usually answer:

What should I wear?

I think the best sessions are done with multiple outfit choices, and especially a mix of different types of looks.  For a classic lingerie shoot, I'd recommend a few different pieces along with corsets and robes.  Fine-art shoots generally bring out loads of detail too, so don't be afraid to kick it up a notch.
If you'd prefer something a little more comfortable on set, bring along an outfit that really suits your personality such as silk robes or button-up shirts.
Also, don't forget the accessories like jewelry and heels!

What happens if I'm not comfortable with posing?

Absolutely don't worry about this one.  I'll help guide you through every step. I'll direct you on how to pose to look your best.  Most clients are nervous at first, but my goal is to help you feel confident, relaxed, and beautiful at every stage of the shoot.

Will my photos be retouched?

For the most part, almost every portrait session I shoot has some number of shots that are retouched.  A lot of it is just to enhance the image without altering any of the natural beauty of my subjects.  This usually includes removing blemishes, skin softening, and hair smoothing.
You can always opt out of the retouching if you want that completely natural look too so it's completely up to you!

How long do the sessions typically last?

This really depends on the session, but in general my boudoir portrait sessions last between 90 minutes and 3 hours.  If you're just looking for a couple of outfits and a single setup, then it's fairly short but it's surprising how quickly these sessions go once you're working hard to get that perfect shot.

What is the studio like, and is it really private?

The studio location is a safe and respectful professional working environment where I do all kinds of personal and commercial photoshoots.  The inside of the studio has several different setups so we can really make it something unique for your session.  Here you can relax, be yourself and focus on feeling confident.  See some of the images of the studio on the about page toward the bottom to get an idea of what it looks like.
The studio space is private, and reserved just for your session.  It's fully furnished to give us lots of room to work, plenty of sets and props, and to make you feel comfortable during your shoot.  There are both sets for natural light as well as studio lighting depending on what you're looking for.

What happens after my session?

After your session, you'll be able to choose your favorite shots for retouching right there while you're in the studio.  After that, I'll go to work to lightly edit, retouch and make those photographs into final images that can be delivered digitally online.
If you'd like to have prints or books made, we'll go through those options too and pick the images you'd like to have included.
Typically, most digital photos are ready in a few days, with prints taking about two to three weeks to come in and be sent out to you.

Can I bring a friend or partner for support?

Absolutely!  I have no problem with having guests in the studio while we work as long as everyone respects the session process and maintains the atmosphere of the studio during the shoot.

The studio is located in the beautiful Cottonwood Heights area with easy freeway access.  It features an incredible 2,500 square feet of private furnished shooting space offering several truly dynamic environments.  The studio has full lighting setups available, several distinct sets and backdrops, and a fantastic north-facing natural-light space.  The space is perfect for boudoir, portrait and fine-art photography of all types.
Custom Studio Boudoir Sessions

You can always book online above for our most popular boudoir sessions, but I also offer fully custom studio boudoir and fine-art sessions tailored for just what you're looking for.
These custom sessions last about 90 minutes to three hours, with cost depending on what type of session you're looking for, the number of outfits you'd like to photograph, backdrop/set colors and lighting selections, and any custom edits or retouching.
Tell me a little about yourself and what type of images you're looking for, and when you'd like to work using the form below.  I'll get back to you with any questions I have about what you're looking for in the session, and what dates and times are available to schedule.
